• What is the IFTTT tool?

IFTTT app has been created in order to facilitate the simultaneous use of different app

It allows to gather and link online-connected services together through this concept: "If That Then This".

It consists in link two element, the "Trigger" (meaning of "If that") runs to an "action" (meaning of "Then, This")

 

The following examples explain the concept:

 

- If you have a home security camera which detects movements (trigger) in home, you can receive an email and other warning (action)

- As you can see the examples in the image above, you can gather your favourite apps into one and be notified about your favourite music, information etc.

 

• How can I use it to make my life easier?

 
This image is an example of the reasons I will use this app. Indeed, I am not very interested in fancy apps in which people use to post their "life" and photographs like Instagram or Twitter.

 

But, I think essential use that can provide me important notifications and information can be really useful and relevant (whether notification, world news etc.).

In addition to that, I will able to use it for a better and intelligent use of my phone. Indeed, as you can see in the screenshot above, information notifications for a better and optimized use of my phone (saving battery, turning off the phone for professional reasons, automatically send a message after a phone call missed etc.)  

This app can be really useful and interesting to use but this will adds apps whereas we already have a lot...

Regarding the interesting actions, the hotels have to take into consideration the actual trends regarding the digitals aspects, the art and creative activities but also regarding music, sport and cooking. It is important to touch people by creating specific effects and feelings. 

 

Indeed, nowadays people like to create and share. So it will interesting to create actions that will allow people to do themselves and discover activities and other creations or for example, let them decorate, write, participate to the hotel design and may be create and register their own music. Thus, they could let their "touch" to the hotel.

This new concept of "designing yourself the hotel" could be very attractive and innovative.
 
From this type of collaboration:

- Hotels have to continue on this innovation progress because these ideas of new concepts and collaborations are important to keep a business alive and still be competitive.
- Moreover, customers are looking for new experiences and discovering new unique and imaginative concepts.
- This sort of atypical partnership is a good mean for enhancing the creativity of people.
- The guests will be attached to the hotel and will live an enjoying experience.  
- It is a good way to go back to the roots.
- This unique concept will attract more guests so more revenues.
- This concept will allow the hotel to enhance their unique image and brand.
- The customers will be happy and will give good recommendations for other guests.

Augmented Reality VS Virtual Reality

The Augmented Reality: "Bring things to Life"

The Augmented Reality allows users to "take" the real environment which is around them, into a digital platform (Smartphone, Tablets...) by visualizing virtual objects in the real world, in real-time. We can divide in 3 main parts, the different uses of the Augmented Reality process

The users can see the real environment with a 3D model.

When you can having textual and more information about what you are looking at with your smartphone. For example, if you look at a particular building, museum etc.

The AR Game

The best example will be the famous Pokémon Go app when you are able to catch virtual Pokémon. Creating a real gaming experiences by using what is around you.

The Virtual Reality

Virtual reality allows people to explore and interact in a virtual environment thanks to a three-dimensional environment which generated by a computing system. Thanks to this virtual process, people can enjoy and feel like they are in a reality world. The person is able to manipulate and interact with virtual objects, people etc.

 

The Main differences between the AR and VR  

1. If we take the example of the two pictures above, with the Virtual Reality the user can enjoy swimming among sharks. Whereas, with the augmented reality, the user can watch the shark, like it was in the real environment.

 

 2. While AR proposes to create the reality through digital, VR allows user to be enter into the game and the virtual world.

3. While, in the AR system you can take virtual things into reality, in the VR system you bring yourself into a virtual world which seems to be real.

Thanks to the Google Cardboard, the user can make and create his own virtual viewer.

The Google Cardboard offers a realistic visions for an amazing experience.

Then, once it has been made, the user will immerse himself in the virtual reality on his smartphone.

- The RWD is related with the adaptation of digital elements, such as, the reframe, the resize of digital elements etc.

What is the Amazon Go retail experience ?

 

Amazon go is a mobile app proposed by Amazon.
It is a new form of digital technology to do shopping...

Indeed, this app allows the customers a "digital" mean to pay their purchases in supermarkets for example. In other words, you take what you want and just leave the store.

 

How does it work?

 

Thanks to this app, the Amazon GO system directly recognizes the product (what is it, the price etc.) you have just chosen.

 

From their safety virtual card system, you can easily register your credit card. And the payment system will be done directly through this app.

 

How might it affect the hospitality industry?   

 

This new type of virtual credit card and digital payment can be really useful for the hospitality industry, regarding the customers as well as the employees.

Guests' expectations are more and more attracted by the digital app, because it is easy, quick and they trust their programs.

This kind of app, adapted to the hospitality industry will allow the customers to use the virtual card system, and will gain in time.

- Check-out thanks to the digital payment: a gain of time for busy customers

 

From this example of virtual payment, we can say that the customers who don't have time (essentially business customers) to do their check-out in the front office, it will be a gain of time for them by directly paid through this app.It will also be great for the front office teams who just need to check directly on the app and to do not make other customers waiting.  

 

- Booking and buying services directly through this kind of app:

 

From this digital app, the services and products consumed by the guests can be automatically register and may avoid mistakes because the customers will directly see what they have consumed.

 

- The credit card is registered in the app of the hotel but also for the other hotels of the chain. We have to take into consideration the gain of time in terms of check-in and check-out procedures.

The AI is more and more used and developed. It collects the person’s data and permits to replace the traditional and classic ways of booking or buying something, a service. The artificial intelligence software knows and anticipates our needs and wants, like a real human. We saw this development with the creation of the vocal assistance on the mobile phones (Cyril).

Facebook Messenger is developing its own artificial intelligence software in which we will able to “chat” and book a service.

The Chabot concept

The origin of “bot” appeared during the 50’s, it is a software that is in charge of doing automatically a specific task, like for example, booking a restaurant.

Today, we can say that, it is a smart software that perfectly understands and anticipates the wants and needs of a human. The bot permits to offer a better interactivity with the users. Naturally, the bot has been developed for the chat’s platform and for the instant messaging. That’s why the term “chatbot” appeared.
We have the real impression to talk with a Human.

The positive impact on the hotel bookings in the future

Thanks to this new way of booking a service, we may think about the future impact on the hotels bookings. From my point of view, I think it will have a positive effect on the bookings systems for the hotels. It permits to save time for the clients and time and money for the hotels.

Indeed, from this way of communicate, everyone has already a Facebook account and doesn’t need to create another one or install another app for booking a room. Moreover, this new way of booking it is more personalized, like we were speaking to a real person. It is simple and fast, we can do this everywhere, between 2 RDV. Finally and for sure, it will attract the young people.  

It will make the booking reservations’ work easier and will develop a new way of managing the reservations systems.
